Honor and Fair Play

Honor and Fair PlayFirst and foremost, a small disclaimer.

We play in a PvE server. We enjoy PvE very much and very rarely engage in PvP. It's just not the kind of stuff we like. While we see that this post has no place in a PvP server, we think it's very well suited for a PvE one. Those in PvP servers: please bare with us.

Not very often we see players from the opposing faction (Alliance players, of course) trying to ruin another player's quest (a Horde player), hunt for pet or whatever. It's true, we are, indeed, part of opposing factions. It's true there's a PvP component in World of Warcraft. But, in our opinion, it's also true that people should have some fair play. Some sportsmanship.

A lot of players tend to try and ruin the fun for those of opposing factions. They try to kill their mobs or just generally annoy the player. But, very often, we see something completely different. Something we love to do also. After all this is a very strong social game where we interact with other people (real people, that is) and we believe in a world where people help each other.

If we see an alliance player trying to bring down an elite, or simply overwhelmed with mobs all over him, we tend to go help. Why not? He/she is just trying to do a quest, gain reputation, HAVE FUN. And having fun does not mean we need to ruin other people's fun. Sometimes it means helping them! Even if they are part of the opposing faction. Even if they killed you 200 times in a battleground. Because, above all, World of Warcraft is about fun.

Honor yourself (no, not the Honor currency) and those around you by playing fair, be civil and helping others achieving their goals and having fun.

This is how WoW should be!

Now, go have fun!

  1. I agree with you 100%! I also play on a PvE server, but when I rolled my first toons, I played on a PvP server and I hated it! I try to help when I find someone who needs it, whether they be Horde or Alliance.

I admit, though, two days ago while doing the Sprite Darter Egg quest in Feralas I killed a level 48 Orc. I'm a level 80 shadow priest. I felt TERRIBLE! The guy kept killing my quest giver, who was an Alliance PvP marked target. After the third time failing the quest, after he killed her again, I just killed him, restarted the quest, and got it done. Miraculously, while he did come back, he kept away. It would have taken me five minutes to complete if he's not been a pain in the rump.

    Sometimes, fair is fair. :)

  2. That was some Shadow Priest karma. I bet he'll think it through next time.

  3. This is a great topic. I also agree with you 100%. I am a PvE player, who happens to be on a PVP server. There to play with real life friends.
Being on a PVP server, I get to experiance humanity at it's finest. Watching a level 80s rip through low level areas targeting FP and quest givers. Seeing a group's healer ganked just after starting a elite quest event. One group ganking another group at a summoning stone. And my personal gripe of being ganked by opposing faction swooping in on an epic flyer. I don't complain because it is a PVP servre and there really isn't any notion of fairplay there, only kill and survive.
